GEORGIA CEE

IMAFestival invited internationally renown artist Georgia Cee to perform both in New York and Los Angeles Big Closing Event. She brought to IMAFestival audience a collection of songs from her new R&B album and also a few Italian traditional songs as a special gift for the occasion.

We asked her a few questions about her experience with "Food and Migration":

Tell us something about your hometown and why you chose to move to New York.

My hometown is in Calabria, close to the sea, and it is really wonderful to wake up in the morning and see the sunrise! There is a lot of traditional artwork in the region I come from: they still make beautiful scarves by hand. I left my hometown many years ago first to go to study in Rome and then in Milan. Three years ago I moved to NY to discover new music and to accept a new job in fashion!

Name two of your favorite dishes, one from your own tradition/culture and another from a tradition/culture different from yours.
My favorite dishes are: rice balls and special fried potatoes donuts that my mom cooks for me every time I go back home! Delicious!

Food, Art and Migration: why do you think these three words go so well together.
Because food is already art by itself…and you can bring this art with you everywhere you go in the world!!
